Video Game Design
Using Xbox controllers you will learn how to create and design your very own video game. Students will create a range of terrains, worlds and characters, controlling the characters’ movement, sound and vision using an intuitive icon-based programming language.

Gore Glen Walk: unravel the story of our valley woodlands by reading the trees. Morning led by Ian Edwards from the Royal Botanical Gardens. Ian has been a friend of the Midlothian Science Festival since it's inception and with masses of knowledge and experience in Ecology and a PhD in woodland conservation, he always delights those who join him for a walk in the beautiful Gore Glen.

In 1794, Scotland’s first Gunpowder Mill started operations on the banks of the Gore Water. It was closed shortly after 1861. Join us as we host speaker Joan Simpson, who will share her knowledge of those 'gunpowder years' in Gorebridge, setting them in their local and european historical context. A fascinating evening.
