Supercomputers for big (and little) problems

Thu October 13, 2016 @ 15:0017:00

Children working together

How do you use a supercomputer? What is a supercomputer, maybe a better question? Can you play games on it? Or maybe do you use one to solve the questions posed in science and engineering? Try out our portable “Supercomputer”, work out an “algorithm” to solve a problem and learn what can be done with a supercomputer in areas from paleontology to cosmology to aerospace engineering.

Activities for visitors to try which introduce what supercomputers are, what we use them for, how to split up problems and learn about ARCHER, the UK’s fastest supercomputer.
