Discover how virtual reality was developed in Scotland 170 years ago! Using original 3D stereoviews, join author Dr Peter Blair for a Victorian virtual reality tour of Scotland.
Author and collector Dr Peter Blair will describe how virtual reality was developed in Scotland 170 years ago by Sir David Brewster. By 1860, practically every middle class home in the UK had a Brewster stereoscope and 3D images were the best-selling format of photograph! Compact and affordable, 3D stereoviews were popular souvenirs for travelling Victorians. They were sold widely in shops, hotels, cathedrals, stations and even on boats. Using original 3D views from his collection, Dr Blair will take us on a Victorian virtual reality tour of Scotland, visiting popular attractions including Rosslyn Chapel. Prepare to be amazed by Victorian ingenuity and the timeless beauty of Scotland. 3D glasses will be provided.
