Science Alive gala day
Sat October 15, 2016 @ 10:30 – 15:30| Free
The Science Alive gala day has become one of Midlothian Science Festival’s most popular events.
Produced by the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology working with Midlothian Science Festival, this year we have science workshops, drop-in activities, a cafe and a planetarium/dome film!
Be a Master builder with the Centre for Synthetic Biology, My Asthma Story will have activities, Cancer Research UK will have their amazing wind column, and you can ‘Crack the Code and Build a Creature’ from Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology. You can join in workshops on growing crystals and on building rockets, plus a rocket launch
Find out how chemists at the University of Edinburgh are making the planet a greener place. Have a go at your own chemical reactions, explore the atmosphere and learn how chemistry can save the world!
This year we present the superb 3D dome-film experience Cell! Cell! Cell! This is the story of the trillions of cells that form our bodies, from our beginnings as a single cell to the complexity of a whole body: it’s the story of who we are. Film costs £2 on the door and there are lots of slots during the day. Book online for free to make sure you get your chance to experience Cell! Cell! Cell! Other workshops will be bookable on the day.
